With getting exposed to music as a newborn, it comes as no surprise that Imran Shahzad picked up an instrument to play. The nephew of the renowned Tabla player, Ustad Arshad Ali Khan Sahib, who also became the most obvious choice of teacher, Shahzad started training from the age of ten. It wasn’t until the year 2000 when he performed his first show with Sajjad Ali. From thereon he played sessions with Faakhir Mehmood, Hadiqa Kiyani and Ali Zafar as well as toured across Europe and India.

A master rhythm player who is skilled to play every skin instrument such as Dhol, Dholak and Tabla – he’s currently working as a music arranger and recording traditional music for folk albums in Sindh and Saraiki.

Imran Shahzad will feature on Coke Studio, Season 9 for the first time as a guest musician.
